More than a team

Purpose in Every Play.
Character in Every Choice.

Every player belongs here. Athletes learn to own their choices, lift their teammates, and represent the club with integrity.

One Team. One Goal. 1% Better.

One day, the final whistle will blow for the last time.

The jerseys will be folded away. The bruises will heal. The scores and championships will slowly fade.

But the things that matter most never will.

They’ll remember the teammate who became family. The coach who believed in them before they believed in themselves. The days they wanted to quit—but didn’t.The lessons learned through sacrifice, discipline, and perseverance.

Most of all, they’ll remember the moment they discovered they were capable of far more than they ever imagined.

That’s why we coach more than rugby.

We build confidence. We develop leaders. We shape character. We prepare young people for challenges far beyond the pitch.

We believe sports should change lives.Rugby is simply how we do it.

The Zionsville Way

Winning isn’t always ours to control. The weather isn’t. The referee isn’t. The division we’re placed in isn’t. But every day, we control something even more important:

  1. Character before trophies.
  2. Team before self.
  3. Effort before excuses.
  4. Courage before comfort.
  5. Respect always.
  6. Leave the program stronger than you found it.
Said before the first whistle. Meant long after the last one.

The foundation

What we believe

Four pillars

What we build,
season after season.

Integrity

Own the mistake. Respect the opponent. Do the right thing when it costs something.

Courage

Step toward the hard moment, trust the preparation, and try again when the first attempt falls short.

Leadership

Set the standard, steady a teammate, and take responsibility. Leadership is practiced, not reserved for captains.

Belonging

Players earn trust by showing up for their team. Shared work creates close teammates, lasting friendships, and a place where every player is known and valued.

For the newcomer

Why rugby?

Many families arrive having never watched a full match. That is normal. Rugby earns its place here through what it asks of every player.

Zionsville Rugby teammates supporting each other during a match
  • Everyone attacks.

Every player carries, passes, and can score. The game gives every athlete a meaningful role with the ball.

  • Everyone defends.

A connected defensive line depends on every teammate. Players learn that their effort protects someone else.

  • Everyone supports.

Because the ball travels backward, progress depends on a teammate arriving in support. Teamwork is built into the game.

  • Everyone matters.

Tall, quick, powerful, or compact—players find a position that values what they already bring.

  • Respect is written into the laws.

Captains address the referee, opponents are applauded, and both teams gather after the match. Respect is expected.

  • The weight is shared.

A scrum holds only when eight players work together. The game teaches composure, recovery, and shared responsibility.
